Duoble / Help
A softer way to close.
Help with Duoble, the Mac app that makes your desktop follow the movement of your MacBook lid.
Screen frames stay on your Mac. No account, tracking, or audio capture.
Read the Privacy PolicyBefore you start
Live effects require macOS 14 or later, an Apple silicon MacBook with a compatible lid-angle sensor, and an active, unmirrored built-in display. Compatibility depends on your Mac model. The manual preview works without Screen Recording permission or a sensor.
Start the live effect
- Open Duoble and choose Allow Screen Recording. Approve the macOS prompt; if you previously denied it, Duoble opens the correct System Settings page. Quit and reopen Duoble if macOS asks you to.
- Open General, choose Enable Duoble, and check the sensor status.
- Switch to another app and lower the lid at least 3° below your clear angle. Reopening to the clear angle clears the effect and stops screen capture.
The desktop effect pauses while Duoble’s settings is active so you can adjust the preview. “Ready when you fold” means Duoble is waiting for you to lower the lid far enough to start the effect. The 3° start gap prevents repeated capture starts from small sensor fluctuations. Changing a preset preserves the clear angle.
Pause or recover
Use Duoble’s menu-bar item to Pause or Quit. The real menu bar remains available. Escape pauses the effect while Duoble’s settings is active.
After sleep or an inactive user session, choose Enable again once your desktop is ready. Duoble does not change sleep, lock, or clamshell behaviour.
If screen access still appears unavailable, use Check again, then quit and reopen Duoble if needed. Use one installed copy of the app. A replaced development build may need a renewed macOS permission grant.
